Job Title: Worker’s Compensation Attorney
FLSA Classification: Salaried; Exempt
Schedule: Full-time; potential for hybrid schedule (both in-office and work-from-home)
Salary Range: $110,000 – $135,000 per year, commensurate with experience. Bonus programs provide the opportunity for substantial, additional compensation throughout the year.

Summary:
ZKS LAW has an immediate opening for a Workers’ Compensation Associate with five or more years of applicable experience. Candidates should expect to represent a wide range of clients in all phases of workers’ compensation defense litigation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in handling claims from inception through resolution, to include final hearings/trials and be able to effectively manage a high-volume caseload with both autonomy and teamwork.
Potential Supervisory Responsibilities: Department Legal Assistants and Paralegals
Responsibilities, Skills, and Abilities:
- Represent clients in workers’ compensation matters.
- Conduct legal research and develop litigation strategies in coordination with partners and clients.
- Conduct depositions, mediations, hearings, and potentially trials.
- Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
- Provide legal analysis and case strategy guidance to clients.
- Collaborate with partners, clients, and support staff to ensure efficient case management
- Stay informed of developments in Florida workers’ compensation law.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with clients, shareholders and staff.
- Strong work ethic and ability to meet deadlines.
- Willingness and ability to provide exceptional, determined legal representation to clients through responsive and memorable interpersonal connections.
- Desire to operate with a strong set of ethics.
- Experience using LexisNexis for legal research.

Education and Experience:
- 5 +years of applicable industry experience (required).
- Worker’s Compensation defense experience (required).
- JD: graduation from an accredited law school and active member in good standing with the Florida Bar (required).
- Excellent litigation, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Strong analytical, writing and oral advocacy skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a client-focused mindset.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Work Environment:
- Onboarding/training and the first 90-days are required onsite, after which a partially remote schedule may be discussed. Successful candidates will feel confident about their ability to effectively and collaboratively work from home.
